What was meant to be a peaceful Memorial Day weekend on Grapevine Lake turned into a tragedy after 18-year-old Ava Moore was fatally struck by a jet ski in a hit-and-run incident. Authorities have since identified the suspected operator of the watercraft as Alejandra Glen, a Venezuelan woman who remains at large. Alejandra Glen’s Instagram account is created with the @tublanquita1205 username.
The incident occurred on the evening of Sunday, May 25, as Ava was kayaking on the lake. According to the Texas Game Wardens and Grapevine Police Department, a jet ski carrying two women crashed into her kayak. One passenger stayed behind to assist and speak to first responders, but the operator of the jet ski, later identified as Alejandra Glen, allegedly fled the scene with an unidentified adult male.
The pair reportedly fled in a vehicle but soon collided with another car. They then abandoned the vehicle near the Cobblestone Apartments at Ruth Wall and Turner Road, according to local outlet WFAA. Surveillance footage and photos of Glen, including her distinctive tattoos, began circulating online, aiding in her identification. Internet users quickly matched her to a public Instagram account under the handle @Tublanquita1205.
Despite efforts by witnesses to revive Ava — who was wearing a life jacket — she was pulled from the water unresponsive and later pronounced dead at the hospital.

Lisa Scrabeck, a bystander who aided in rescue efforts, told CBS News Texas,
“It’s very tragic, and I extend my deepest condolences to the family. I can’t imagine being the parents of this young girl. But one thing I can say is that she didn’t suffer from the moment I saw her.”
Ava Moore was a 2024 graduate of Timber Creek High School and had just completed her first year at the Air Force Preparatory School in Colorado Springs, where she was preparing for a future in military service. She was known for her ambition, kindness, and drive — a young woman with a heart for serving her country.
In the wake of her death, community members have rallied to support the Moore family, launching a fundraising campaign to assist with funeral expenses and raise awareness for watercraft safety.
