Megan Mappi, PNC Business Credit Card Product Manager, Dies in Golf Cart Accident at Lake Latonka.
The Greater Pittsburgh community is mourning the loss of Megan Mappin, a talented and driven business professional, following a tragic golf cart accident at Lake Latonka on May 27, 2025. Megan, a beloved colleague, friend, and member of the local community, passed away at the age of 24.
Megan, originally from Mars, Pennsylvania, had been serving as a Business Credit Card Product Manager at PNC since March 2025. In her short time with the company, she had made an impression on her colleagues and superiors alike with her work ethic, innovative mindset, and enthusiasm for new challenges. Her ability to approach every task with determination and enthusiasm made her a standout within the business credit card division.
Her career had started just a few years ago, following her graduation from the University of Pittsburgh’s College of Business Administration, where she earned her Bachelor’s in Marketing. She was also awarded a Certificate in Innovation and Entrepreneurship, a testament to her forward-thinking approach to business. Megan had previously gained valuable experience working at Atlantic Precious Metal Refining, where she served as an Executive Administrative Assistant for over seven years. Additionally, she had worked in various marketing and sales roles, including positions at Aiken House, Responsival, and even Louis Vuitton.
“Megan was truly an exceptional young woman with a bright future ahead of her,” said Jennifer Adams, her supervisor at PNC. “She was always eager to learn, ready to contribute, and had an infectious enthusiasm that was felt by everyone she worked with. Her passing is an enormous loss to our team and to the greater Pittsburgh business community.”
Megan’s passion for growth and development was not confined to her career. She was deeply committed to giving back to the community and loved exploring new ideas and experiences. Her role in the Delta Sigma Pi business fraternity at the University of Pittsburgh was just one example of her dedication to professional networking and lifelong learning.
In addition to her impressive professional career, Megan was known for her kindness, generosity, and warmth. Friends and family describe her as someone who always made time for others, whether it was offering advice or just being a supportive presence. “Megan was someone you could always count on,” said Rachel Fernandez, one of Megan’s close friends. “She had this incredible energy that made everyone around her feel at ease. I will miss her dearly.”
Tragically, Megan’s life was cut short when the golf cart she was riding in at Lake Latonka overturned, causing fatal injuries. Emergency services responded to the scene, but she was pronounced dead shortly thereafter. The exact cause of the accident remains under investigation.
Megan is survived by her parents, Mark and Ellen Mappin, and her two younger brothers. The family has expressed their gratitude for the outpouring of support they’ve received in the wake of this tragedy and asked for privacy as they grieve.
A memorial service will be held at the Mars Area High School auditorium on June 1, 2025, where Megan’s family, friends, and colleagues will gather to celebrate her life. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested donations be made to the PNC Foundation in Megan’s memory to support initiatives that promote innovation and entrepreneurship in young women.
As the community comes together to honor Megan’s memory, her bright spirit and ambitious drive will live on in the many lives she touched, both personally and professionally.
Rest in peace, Megan.
